Sacrifice Casts a Spell on Mac OS X

The Gods of Sacrifice

CharnelCharnel: To follow Charnel, the self-proclaimed bad guy of Sacrifice, is to walk the treacherous path of evil. His first task for you will be to free a powerful necromancer named The Ragman from a cave guarded by the dragon Sirocco. He wants to use The Ragman against Persephone and James while seeking an alliance with Pyro.

JamesJames: Being the god of earth, James is a mellow guy whose creatures tend to be slow but tough. His first mission for you will be to find the village Quorog, where you’ll learn the location of the nearby dragon caves. In the next mission, you’ll get to subdue Sirocco, who will fight at your side.

PersephonePersephone: The goddess of peace, Persephone usually aligns herself with James, so if you choose her, you’ll often find yourself currying favor with James too. Her spells are mostly defensive in nature, and you’ll see that first-hand in your first mission for her, which is to defend several villages from the marauding Thestor.

PyroPyro: The god of fire targets Persephone early in his missions. Your first goal for him is to take over the forest that is the home of the sacred Daven tree. If you want to show your faithfulness to Pyro, you can destroy the tree, although that won’t make James very happy.

StratosStratos: This is a god whose enemies and allies aren’t apparent from the start. It will take a few missions to figure out which gods he likes and which ones he doesn’t. Of course, such vague behavior may be typical for a guy who’s in charge of something as unpredictable as the weather.

Tips, Tricks and Cheat Codes

Tips and Tricks

You start the game with a preset supply of souls, but you need to engage in battle and collect more of them if you want to summon enough creatures to mount a serious campaign against your opponents. To harvest a creature’s soul, its body must be brought back to your home altar.

To keep your manaliths from being destroyed by your enemies, you can cast a spell to chain certain creatures there to protect it. Remember that your choice of god also dictates what kind of creatures you can summon, such as gargoyles (James) or netherfiends (Charnel).

If you die, don’t worry — just guide your wizard’s spirit to a mana source and replenish your life force before going back into battle. You’re out of the game completely, though, if an enemy gets to your home altar and sacrifices a creature on it, thus destroying the source of your powers.

If any of the battles get too intense, you can teleport your wizard and all of your minions in the immediate area to a manalith, shrine or altar and regroup. To keep track of everything happening in the game, make sure you pay attention to the mini-map in the corner of your Mac’s screen at all times.
