Banff Springs (Banff, Alberta, Canada): Designed in 1928, Banff Springs offers a spectacular view of the surrounding mountains. The course weaves among the mountains, groves of evergreen trees, and two rivers.
Chateau Whistler (Whistler, British Columbia, Canada): The designers retained much of the natural terrain that existed when this course was built, so youll find plenty of creeks, ponds, and stands of ancient Douglas Fir trees to make your golfing more difficult.
Four Seasons Resort Aviara (Carlsbad, California): This course was designed by Arnold Palmer and is considered a masterpiece. Youll see native wildflowers, waterfalls, and a view of the Pacific Ocean from Four Seasons Resort Aviara.
Frankfurter Golf Club (Frankfurt, Germany):
Designer Harry Colt actually incorporated optical illusions into Frankfurter when he designed it in 1913: the bunkers appear closer to the greens than they really are. The fairways are tight, so accuracy off the tees is important.
Mesa Roja (Four Corners, United States (the intersection of Utah, Colorado, Arizona, and New Mexico): Like The Prince Course, Mesa Roja has steep slopes, thanks to the fact that its set in a canyon. Many of the holes border the beautiful Kayenta Lake.
Oakmont Country Club (Oakmont, Pennsylvania):
Oakmont has hosted more major championship tournaments than any other course in the United States. Built in 1903, Oakmont also has the distinction of being one of the most difficult courses in the country.
Pelican Hill Golf Club (Newport Coast, California): Formed from beautiful coastal canyons, Pelican Hill offers a view of the Pacific Ocean on one side and a view of the canyons on the other. Some of your tee shots will even cross a canyon or two.
Royal Melbourne Golf Club (Melbourne, Australia):
This club was built in 1891 and actually comprises three separate courses: West Course, East Course, and Composite Course (the one included in Links). All the Royal Melbourne courses are known for their wide fairways and acres of bunkers.
Thanksgiving Point (Lehi, Utah): This course is actually part of a large vacation area that includes a dinosaur museum, botanical gardens, restaurants, and more. Plenty of sand bunkers make Thanksgiving Point a tough course to master.
The Canyons Course at Bighorn (Palm Desert, California): Set in the desert, The Canyons Course offers nine holes set in the valley floor and nine set among the higher elevation.
The Judge Course at Capitol Hill on the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail (Prattville, Alabama):
The Judge Course is considered one of the most beautiful in golf. Twelve holes border water, so watch out.
The Prince Course (Princeville Hawaii, Kauai): Another course with a view of the magnificent Pacific Ocean, The Prince Course features rolling hills that are sure to test your chip shots and putts.
Westfields Golf Club (Clifton, Virginia): Civil War battlefields lie next to many of the holes at Westfield, which is set among the woods in northern Virginia. This course features many water hazards and sand traps, so youll need to be careful.
