Tips & Tricks

We realize that even highly skilled dhampirs need help from time to time, so we’ve compiled some gameplay hints to help you out of the tight spots.

You don’t need to kill every enemy on every level. If Rayne’s health meter is full, let one or two of the bad guys get away and track them down later if she needs to feed on them to replenish lost health.
Open every box you come across to find little surprises like rocket launchers, grenades, or more ammo.
Use Rayne’s lighter guns until she comes across tough opponents who require heavier weaponry to take out.
That said, try to use Rayne’s blade as much as possible to build up her Blood Rage.
Watch the compass in the lower right-hand corner of the screen to make sure you’re heading the right way. Rayne’s objectives change frequently during levels, so be aware of that.
In the first level, jump on top of the church steeple and slash a bat out of the air for fun. Make sure you explore every level to discover more hidden tricks. No, they won’t help you win the game any faster, but sometimes the thrill of discovery is enough of a reward.
In certain levels, the monsters will fight each other. Let them duke it out and then finish off the survivors.
While Rayne feeds, turn to put the body of her victim between her and an enemies with guns; it will act as a shield.
If you’ve searched everywhere in a level and don’t know where to go next, look for a crack in a wall that you can smash so that it becomes a hole. Climb through.
Tight spaces, such as hallways, are your friends. If you get the bad guys bunched up in a small area, Rayne can take them on one by one. They’ll also suffer some damage when their errant attacks hit each other (and the victims get mad and hit back).
If you come across a truck with mounted guns, try to remove them. If you can, Rayne will be able to carry them around and use them. They’re much more powerful than shotguns and pistols.
Use your mouse to look up as often as possible. You may discover things you hadn’t noticed before. You may also discover an escape route if Rayne is overwhelmed by her enemies.
Use Rayne’s aura and extruded views to check out rooms before she enters them. Remember, a red aura around a foe either means that he’s weak or that he’s unaware of her. Unaware victims usually make better feeding hosts than aware ones.
Rumor has it you can find the Lost Ark of the Covenant somewhere in the game. (Remember, the Germans were looking for it in the movie Raiders of the Lost Ark; they had a fascination with uncovering ancient artifacts during the 1930s.)

Cheat If You Must

Stumped? Then you may need some help, thanks to the cheat codes that are commonly placed in most videogames. They allow you to, well, cheat and change the rules. This sometimes includes activating bonuses, unlocking secrets and new levels of gameplay.

To enable cheats in BloodRayne, click on “Options” in the main menu and select “Enter Cheat” on the next screen. Then type one of the cheats below exactly as you see it and press the Return key. If you entered it correctly, you’ll see a confirmation. You can repeat the process to enter more cheats or start the game. You can also access cheats during the game from the Pause menu.

The Codes
INSANEGIBSMODEGOOD — Rayne can hack up enemy body parts much easier and thus kill them faster. This also allows bad guys to kill each other faster when they fight among themselves.
TRIASSASSINDONTDIE — Rayne becomes invulnerable, although she’ll still die if you do something dumb like fall off a cliff.
LAMEYANKEEDONTFEED — Fills Rayne’s health meter.
BRIMSTONEINTHEBAYOU — Unlocks a secret Louisiana level.
SHOWMEMYWEAPONS — Makes Rayne’s weapons visible on her.
