• Bomba a mano S.R.C.M. Model 35: “Bomba a mano” translates to “hand bomb.” This is the Italian army’s regulation-issue hand grenade, painted red so that it’s easy to spot when needed. The Breda Model 35 is the smoke version, which is painted yellow.
• Beretta Model 34: The Italian army’s standard handgun, which can pop off up to 40 9mm rounds per minute.
• Carcano Model 91: Originally put into service in 1892, this rifle sports a short barrel and six rounds per clip.
• Lee Enfield No. 4 Mk1(T): This British sniper rifle features superb accuracy up to 1,000 meters and a 10-round magazine, which means you won’t have to reload it as often as other sniper rifles.
• Automatico Beretta Model 38A: A submachine gun, this weapon was highly prized during the war due to both its deadliness (it can fire up to 500 rounds per minute) and its rarity, making it a popular souvenir among the Allies.

• Breda Model 30: An Italian heavy machine gun, the Breda 30 was awkward and notorious for its inaccuracy, but it could still be effective when spraying bullets into a crowd of enemy soldiers.
• Vickers Berthier MK3B: This gun lost out to the Bren as the British Army’s light machine gun of choice, becoming the Indian Army’s standard issue weapon instead, but it could still be found in the hands of a few soldiers. It was light, weighing only 22 pounds, and could fire off 10 rounds per second.
• Projector Infantry Anti-Tank (PIAT) weapon: The British equivalent of the American Bazooka (or German Panzerfaust), the PIAT was difficult to fire but could take out a tank with one round, at a distance up to 700 yards.

Unlike the Medal of Honor series, Call of Duty only allows you to carry two weapons, plus an assortment of hand grenades and other explosives, at a time. This limitation forces you to make choices based on which guns seem right for a particular mission. Sometimes you might even have to swap one gun for another, complete a task, and then double back to get your old gun back because it’s better suited for what lies ahead.

Call of Duty also differs with its secondary fire option for all weapons, which allows you to look through your gun’s scope and line up your shot. You move very slowly in this mode, so don’t use it unless you’re eyeing some long-range targets.

Like the Medal of Honor games, however, Call of Duty does allow you to grab enemy weapons, which comes in handy if you prefer the German MP40 to the American Thompson, for example.

• American Weapons

• M1A1 Carbine: A well-balanced weapon, this semi-automatic rifle was usually issued to paratroopers because its folding stock kept it from taking up too much space in their backpacks.
• M1 Garand: This popular semi-automatic rifle is deadly at both short and long range. It can’t be reloaded in the middle of a clip, however.
• Thompson: Terrible at long range, this submachine gun is perfect for combat in close quarters.
• Browning: This automatic rifle was often used as a secondary weapon due to its slow mobility. Its rate of fire is fast and its damage is deadly, however.
• Springfield M1903: This sniper rifle can take out the enemy at long range with a single shot, but it reloads one bullet at a time, which forces you to use strategy when reloading.
• Colt .45: Issued to both American and British paratroopers, this handgun is useful when your other weapon runs out of ammo.
• M2 grenade: This standard-issue grenade won’t do any damage against armored vehicles, but it’s perfect to toss into a bunker or machine gun nest.

• Russian Weapons

• PPSh: The standard Soviet submachine gun, the PPSh holds 71 rounds per clip, which cuts down on the number of reloads. Like other weapons in its class, however, it’s effectively useless against long range targets.
• Mosin-Nagant: This bolt-action rifle is perfect against long range enemies, but its slow rate of fire can make it frustrating to use in close quarters. Some models add a scope, turning it into a very effective sniper rifle.
• Luger: A common sidearm found throughout the Soviet army.
• RGD-33 Stick Grenade: Similar in design to the German “potato masher” grenades, the RGD-33 is useful when tossed into a room full of enemy troops. The pin at the top must be pushed in before it’s tossed, however, making its fire rate a bit slower than the M2, whose pin can be pulled faster.

• British Weapons

• Lee-Enfield: The British army first introduced this rifle in 1907. Like most rifles, it’s the perfect choice against long range targets, but it’s not nearly as effective at short range.
• Sten Mark 2: A solid submachine gun with greater range than others in its class.
• Bren LMG: It may look awkward, but this machine gun combines a high rate of fire with the ability to pick off long distance targets, making it the perfect all-around weapon.
• MK1 grenade: Similar to the M2.

• German Weapons

• MP40: A popular submachine gun with the same long distance limitations as others.
• MP44: Like the Bren LMG, this assault rifle is deadly at both short and long range, with the capability to fire rapid bursts.
• Kar98k: A bolt-action rifle that, like others with the same firing mechanism, is better at long range than short. The scoped version makes it a deadly sniper rifle.
• FG42: Combine a long-range scope — longer than most sniper rifles — with automatic fire and you have a weapon that can take out opponents near and far. The ability to fire a burst means that you don’t have to worry about wounding a long-range enemy and having him hide before you can get off the next round.
• Panzerfaust: Its name means “armored fist” in German. It can only fire one round at a time, but it’s capable of decimating a tank with a single shot. You’ll need to be good with it if you want to get through a few missions.
• Stielhandgranate: The German hand grenade. Its capabilities are identical to those of other World War II hand grenades.

• CAR-15 Colt 5.56mm AR: The preferred automatic rifle of Delta Force, its shorter barrel reduces accuracy.
• M16A2 Colt 5.56mm AR: This automatic rifle is more accurate than the CAR-15, but it’s heavier. It features two firing modes: single shot and three-round burst.
• M203 grenade launcher: This launcher mounts under the barrel of the CAR-15 or the M16A2 and can fire one 40mm grenade round at a time.
• M21 7.62mm: This sniper rifle offers a medium-range scope that can adjust for firing from moving vehicles. It unleashes semi-automatic bursts that aren’t as accurate as those fired by a bolt-action rifle.
• M24 SWS 7.62mm: Another sniper rifle, this one features a bolt-action firing mechanism for higher accuracy but a slower rate of shots.
• MCRT .300 Tactical: A bolt-action sniper rifle, this one comes loaded with Winchester .300 magnum rounds, which do serious damage upon impact.
• Barrett M82A1: It’s big and heavy, but this .50 caliber sniper rifle can penetrate vehicle armor at distances up to 1800 meters.
• M249 SAW 5.56mm MG: SAW stands for “squad automatic weapon.” This gun is typically issued one per squad. It’s perfect for laying down suppressing fire.
• M160E3 7.62 GPMG: Larger than the M249, this M160E3 requires a bipod for effective operation. Its heavier rounds can stop larger targets.

• M240B: You’ll often find this fully automatic machine gun mounted on vehicles, but it can be carried and used by hand too.
• Remington 780: This shotgun’s powerful but scattered shots make it highly effective at close range but virtually useless against long-distance opponents. It’s also useful for blowing down doors.
• MP5A3 H&K 9mm SMG: This submachine gun is sometimes used by pilots as a sidearm. The SD variant features a suppressor for silent firing.
• Colt M1911A1 .45: A commonly used handgun, this one will do in a pinch when your other weapons run out of ammo.
• M9 Beretta 9mm: The standard-issue handgun of the US Army, the Beretta 9mm has a higher rate of fire than the Colt .45.
• AT-4: This shoulder-mounted rocket launcher can take out most armored vehicles.
• M67 grenade: A deadlier, newer version of the M2.
• XM84 stun grenade: Toss one of these in a room and its blinding flash, accompanied by a high-pitched whine, will stun the occupants until you can enter and take care of them.
• AN-M8 HC smoke grenade: Use this to obscure your movements, especially when snipers might be on the prowl, or when you need to mark your location for support or rescue teams.
