Tips and Tricks
- When you are in the light cycle arena and one of the red regulars asks you which cycle will win the next race, choose blue. Hell thank you for the tip after the race and youll get 5 build points.
- Dont give up in the light cycle contests. If you win the first ones that you enter, one of the red regulars will give you a permission code for a security locker; inside youll find a super light cycle rod, which will allow you to ride one of the new bikes.
- When you come across multiple items to download (such as when you find an archive bin), press the keys for them all at once and youll download them simultaneously, thus saving yourself some time.
- When you get the Viral Protection sub-routine, upgrade it to Gold as soon as you can; youll need it.
- Your health and energy patches are finite resources, so dont use them unless you absolutely have to. Instead, check the core dumps left behind by derezzed enemies. Theyll often restore some lost health or energy.
- When you block an opponents disc with your own, fire your disc at him right away. Hell be defenseless while waiting for his deflected disc to make its way back to him.
- In the arenas, you can often derezz the platforms your opponents are standing on. Try doing that to take them out quickly. If youre good enough, you can bounce your disc off multiple platforms and eliminate several opponents with one throw.
- Check your System Memory screen (press F1) when you enter new areas to ensure you have the right sub-routines installed to do the job. You may also have some sub-routines that became corrupt as a result of enemy attacks, so make sure you fix them. And dont forget to access your System Memory to install new sub-routines when you acquire them.
- Dont waste power-ups when racing light cycles; use them when the time is right. The only exception to this is the shield break, which stays active until you drive through a light cycle trail. So when you get a shield break, activate it right away and grab another power-up to hold in reserve.
- When youre riding next to another light cyclist, a quick turn into his path can cause him to crash, but not if hes right behind you: turning causes your speed to drop, which means you could easily hit his path while he keeps going. With practice youll be able to judge just how far behind another cycle should be before you can make a quick turn.
- Sometimes you can win a light cycle competition simply by playing a defensive game and staying alive as long as possible. Your opponents will eventually crash, leaving you to steer toward the exit and claim victory. (But if you crash before you get there, youve lost the competition.)
Stumped? Then you may need some help, thanks to the cheat codes that are commonly placed in most videogames. They allow you to, well, cheat and change the rules. This sometimes includes activating bonuses, unlocking secrets and new levels of gameplay.
To enable the cheats in Tron 2.0, press T to bring up the Say: prompt. Youll notice that the game pauses when you do this. Enter a cheat, press Return, and you should see a confirmation on the screen.
