Tips and Tricks
- You dont have to activate Star Power when the first three lights are lit: three more lights will appear, and you can wait and fill them, giving you a longer Star Power session when you activate it.
- You can also extend your Star Power session by initiating it just before hitting a series of Star Power gems, which will refill the meter a bit as you deplete it. Just dont put off activating it for too long: theres nothing worse than ending a song with some Star Power left.
- Guitarists, take note: When you see a Star Power gem with a line after it, work the whammy bar as much as possible to squeeze out some extra Star Power.
- Guitar Hero World Tour introduces a beginner difficulty setting, which eschews the gems for bars that stretch across the screen. You dont even have to hold down any fret buttons: just click the strum bar at the right moment.
- The bar across the screen also appears sometimes for bass players. It means you should strum without holding down any fret buttons. Its known as the open strum.
- If youre struggling to get past a tune, theres nothing wrong with lowering the difficulty level so you can move forward in the game. You can always raise it back to where it was.
- The boss battles from Guitar Hero III, where you had to attack your opponent with Battle Power, are gone. In the Ted Nugent and Zakk Wylde face-offs, all you need to do is worry about playing your part correctly; nail it and the crowd will love you.
- If you still want an old-fashioned battle, though, you can always take on an opponent that way in the Head to Head section. You can even issue a challenge from your band to another over the Internet.
- Comfort is important, particularly for drummers, who need to make sure they sit at an appropriate height. The Guitar Hero games are more physically demanding than you might expect, especially if you havent played one before, so prepare accordingly. Dont be surprised if you finish a marathon session and realize your arms are really tired. Time to take a break.

To enable cheats in Guitar Hero World Tour, select Options from the main menu and then choose Cheats. Select Enter new cheat and follow the pattern of notes below. Unlike in Guitar Hero III, where you have to strum the notes, all you need to do is press the appropriate fret button the number of times indicated. If you do it right, youll see a message telling you what youve unlocked.
When youre done, dont forget to scroll through the list of cheats and activate the ones you want to use. Some of them also have a variety of options to choose from.
